THE COMPANY
Makana Esthetics Wellness Academy was created and founded by Malia Sanchez in January 2007. The Academy received approval from The State of Hawaii Board of Barbering and Cosmetology to operate as a Registered Beauty School on November 5th, 2007 and also as a Licensed Beauty Shop on May 18th, 2009.
Malia Sanchez was born and raised in Hawai'i. She grew up on the island of Kaua'i and moved to O'ahu to pursue her education as a Licensed Cosmetologist. The values and principles that she learned are the foundation of an innovative and rewarding venture; one that would enable her to share some of these core values with others in a positive and giving way while promoting wellness and health.
She has been actively working in the beauty field since 1992. Malia's experience in all aspects of the beauty field motivated her to create her own practical techniques to ensure luxurious facials treatments and a teaching style that motivates individuals to achieve their fullest potential. Malia has discovered throughout her years in the industry that she is happiest when she can make a difference in another's life. Teaching for Malia is sharing her knowledge as a professional in her field, guiding people in the right direction and nurturing individuals so they have complete confidence in their skills. Her experience and ties within the esthetic industry give Makana's students the knowledge and exposure they need to start their own careers. Malia's commitment to her trade, as well as her perseverance and entrepreneurship, create an amazing blend for the Academy. With this she strives to educate, guide and nurture her students.
Malia is very devoted to her family. She comes from a large family so she understands the joys and challenges it brings. It is these life lessons that have taught her to be flexible, loving, compassionate, and most of all selfless. Always willing to help others in need, but always remembering to stand up for what is right and never compromise your values. She views these teachings as priceless gifts which have given her a beautiful perspective on life.
